NRBQ
In a perfect match of artist and venue, legendary rock ‘n’ rollers, NRBQ is coming to the Academy on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 8:00 pm with special guests Frank Manzi & LuxDeluxe. Sometimes called, “rock ‘n roll’s best kept secret,” NRBQ has delighted Valley audiences since the late ‘60s. Along with a legion of local fans, NRBQ has famous admirers like Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello. As Bonnie Raitt once said,“I love the Rolling Stones in a way that defies description, but I think NRBQ is the best rock ‘n’ roll band in the world.”

Since 2011 keyboard genius and bandleader Terry Adams has assembled a new edition of NRBQ that has kept the NRBQ spirit alive and flourishing. The band titled their comeback album “Keep This Love Goin’” and that’s what they do. Featuring ace guitarist and singer Scott Ligon in the Big Al Anderson role, NRBQ plays old favorites, new gems and uncanny covers that will lift your spirit and rock your soul. The band is still crazy fun. Opening the show is the excellent Springfield singer-songwriter Frank Manzi backed up by the young rockers in LuxDeluxe. With Terry Adams also leading younger band-members in NRBQ, there is an inter-generational theme happening at this show. What could be better on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend?
LuxDeluxe
LuxDeluxe
Churning out high-octane shows that leave audiences sweaty, LuxDeluxe delivers a serious punch of supple Rolling Stones-y grooves, persuasive danceable hooks, and rock-solid old-fashioned craft. Flaunting like Jagger, with all the sensuality of Bowie, lead singer Ned King creates a spectacle rarely seen since the heyday of rock&roll.

As the band rapidly gains recognition for their live shows, they’ve been invited to share the stage with the likes of Deer Tick, White Denim, NRBQ, Reptar, Lake Street Dive, Rubblebucket, J Mascis, and Big Al Anderson. The highlight of last year was warming up a crowd of over 10,000 for VT Senator Bernie Sanders.
